Right then. Over the past few emails, we’ve highlighted some of the key work – ons that are able to assist you in growing your businesses and its autonomy.

I know how busy things are, however now as we head into Winter, it is a great time to reflect on these things.

Below is a summary refresher:

  • Building a strong second-tier management team. Pick one strong team member. Hand them one small area (e.g., scheduling of all spraying jobs, equipment and machine maintenance tracking, staff rosters). Let them own it — even if you know that in the short term you could do it more effectively or more efficiently. No micromanaging.
  • Diversifying your revenue streams. Offer new services for the same clients. Look for new customer types. Supply premium niche offerings that can carry higher margins.
  • Fostering a culture of innovation. Look for ways to squeeze out every last drop of productivity. Stay agile and responsive to changes in the market landscape. Ask your team, “What’s one thing we’re doing that is a colossal wate of time or money? Listen. Act on it. Reward the suggestion.

These are helpful tools that will be the difference between running a growing company…or being a very tired human paperclip, trying to hold the whole thing together with sweat and willpower.

Sweat and willpower does work…for a period of time when you are young, full of drive and energy and your business is still in its early growth stage. However it is certainly not sustainable throughout the later stages of the growth cycle of a company.

If any one of the three above bullet points are missing or underdeveloped in your business, you are most probably stuck in the daily grind. Still the first to arrive, last to leave, fixing every mess, chasing paperwork, and wondering why you even bothered hiring people!

You are struggling because the systems are rubbish, the team is undercooked and there is no real plan beyond “keep going until something breaks.” Every human on Earth only has 24hrs in a day, therefore systems are critical.

You don’t have to reinvent the wheel. You just need to put the right systems in place so you can step back and take a breath instead of drowning in paperwork.

Think about it like this – you want to build a sound business and saleable asset, this by default requires it to not be tied to you being in the driver’s seat 24/7. This is where something like JobFlow comes in. Not as a silver bullet, but as one vital lever in building a business that can work without you.

Streamlining communication between staff, tracking jobs, speeding up admin and billing, and keeping your team moving without needing you present.

Obviously, it’s not going to replace leadership, culture, or strategy, but it will free you up to actually work on those things.

Being stuck is optional.Let’s get you unstuck.
